Moldova is a small country, conveniently located in south-eastern Europe. Located near the Black Sea, where wine-making originated, Moldova lies in the same latitudes as some of the best winemaking regions of France. Although the climate is more like the climate of Burgundy, the latitudes are similar to the latitudes of Bordeaux, between 46 ° and 48 °. The countryside is characterized by green hills and sunny valleys, crossed by a lot of streams which flow into the two big rivers, Prut and Dniester. In this region, grapes were grown and wine was produced for thousands of years, and thus wine occupies a special place in the local culture. Moldavians emphasize that their country is the only one, outwardly resembling a bunch of grapes.
